One more year passed on Oppo, and one more year until college. Looking forwards to spending more time here with all of you awesome Opponauts. Now let’s celebrate with all a manner of old and new Scandinavian and Gallic rides!

Happy birthday! I didn’t even find Jalopnik until I was in college myself.

Thanks! I prefer this one myself, a rather sweet representation of the venerable Matra Djet! ;)

One more year till college for myself, as well. Although I’m considering taking a gap year so I can work and save more...

I wish I could, a gap year seems like it would make things so much easier although my parents are pretty keen on me going straight into college :/

My mom thought I was joking and I haven’t told my dad yet, however. But almost all of my friends are a year younger, so I kinda wanna wait to see what they do.

Happy Birthday, celebrate in a responsible manner.
I graduate in 2018, and I can’t wait. A majority of my friends graduate next year or just did, so I have few people left. And as I’m paying for college, I’m probably taking a gap year to save up and do a little self finding. I already have plans to move into an apartment with friends, and even though they say to never move in with your friends, but thankfully I know all their habits.

Awesome! Haha, birthdays aren’t too big at our house so we just went out for a celebratory meal. I’m mixed on graduating myself, it’s not that I don’t want to move on with my life but as a rather indecisive person I feel a bit rushed to have to make some of the most important decisions of my life in the timeframe of about a year or two, not to mention that everything else in my life is about to be turned upside down as well. My friends have also speculated that if we were to all end up near each other in the LA region perhaps we could do a similar thing as you guys in sharing an apartment, although the probability of all of us getting into UCLA or USC and managing to pay for it is slim to none.

I wish the best of luck! I’m facing some school choice decisions, as I can get in state tuition in both North Carolina and Washington state so it’s hard to decide if I wanna stay here or move 3,000 miles to Seattle.
Plus, I do live five minutes from the second best community college in NC, so I might just go there. But, and there’s always a, “but,” UNC Asheville is really appealing. Oh well, I’ve got two years yet.

Awesome! Thank you so much! Poring over these pictures is strangely calming and I love all the Volvo and Citroen love since they’re my two favorites (as you very well are aware), but we musn’t forget the little ones too!

Ooooh, yeah, I get your conundrum. I really want to move out of CA since (to be honest) I’m really done with this freaking place. We went to Seattle over summer break and wow, I must say, if the circumstances are right then I would be there next year in an instant. Gorgeous campus, a West Coast mentality (if you catch my drift), and an area which I would really enjoy (close to Victoria and Olympic Nat’l Park, lots of green and much more rain than here). I understand how being further away as you are would make it a much more difficult choice but for me it’s a no-brainer, the only issue is finance.

Happy Birthday to you too! Side note: really sorry to hear about the Ranger, you got it looking amazing before it decided to shit the bed. 132K miles though, that’s disturbingly low, my dad’s turbo whiteblock is at 211K and still doesn’t burn or leak...was it anything that could have been prevented or just a Ford issue? Anyways, I hope you get the Jeep running. I’ve always loved XJs and am especially enamoured by the fact that most of them have I6s (which, as we know, is the best engine layout known to man).

Great photodump though, you covered a lot of bases - from Talbot to Venturi. You’re better than this than I am. xD
Random Sidenote: Out of all the Swedish/French companies, my favourites are probably Saab and Peugeot.

Yeah, for some reason colleges in Washington are really expensive. Even in-state they cost lots of money. The rain, and the green everywhere really make the city. Thankfully, Asheville, NC has a similar West Coast vibe as Seattle, but it’s just in NC’s western region.

Those also happen to be the more controversial two since their respective heydays were over twenty years ago, thus a lot of modern people simply turn their noses down at them because Saab doesn’t exist and the past ten years of Pugs were a bit shite. A shame really, considering what they once did.
Mighty, mighty cars.
